What is polypropylene?
Polypropylene is a low-cost, easy-to-use crystalline thermoplastic utilized in many of today's consumer items. Polypropylene is classified into two types: homopolymers and copolymers.( See more: PP Blowing Grade ).
Copolymer polypropylene is weaker and less rigid than homopolymer polypropylene. It is frequently found in medical equipment such as upper and lower extremity orthoses and prosthetic sockets. Despite being softer than homopolymer polypropylene, copolymer polypropylene is nevertheless robust and durable. Copolymer polypropylene, in fact, offers higher crack resistance and low-temperature toughness than homopolymer polypropylene and can be utilized for many of the same applications.
Polypropylene, often known as an "addition polymer," readily binds to other composite plastics and polymers such as polyethylene. Copolymerization modifies the characteristics of polypropylene slightly, but it opens up new industrial opportunities.

Naturally, there are certain disadvantages to using polypropylene material. For example, product teams should be aware that polypropylene is not suitable for high-temperature applications since it is highly combustible and has a high thermal expansion coefficient. It is also vulnerable to oxidation, UV degradation, chlorinated solvents, and aromatics.
